Breaking news: OC Supervisor Keith Marshall arrested for assault and battery, public intoxication
District 3 supe released on his own recognizance
Orange County Supervisor Keith Marshall (District 3) was arrested in Unionville on Monday, August 19, for assault and battery, a Class 1 misdemeanor, and public intoxication, a Class 4 misdemeanor. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Orange General District Court on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 8:30 a.m., according to the Virginia Judiciary Online Case Information System.
In reply to a Byrd Street inquiry, Orange County Sheriff Jason Smith wrote: “We responded to a call for service in the Unionville area where it was determined that Supervisor Marshall was involved. We contacted Virginia State Police to work the incident due to a conflict of interest.”
Marshall, 65, lives in Unionville and owns and operates a dairy farm. He is in the midst of his first full term as District 3 supervisor. He was appointed to the board in 2021 to finish out the term of the late Teel Goodwin and won a special election in November of that year, prevailing over candidates Ellen Pitera and Donald Brooks. In last November’s election, Marshall beat Pitera by 14 votes.
Byrd Street is awaiting further information from the Virginia State Police. This is a developing story. More details to come.
Thanks Hilary. Surprising, but essential news. Glad our ace reporter is on the job. What’s next for Keith Marshall?
This is important news that I wouldn’t have known, at least not in a timely manner, without Byrd Street. Thank you, Hilary!
